Accredited Practitioner –
Fire Safety (APFS)

Accredited Practitioners (Fire Safety), or APFSs, are responsible for conducting yearly assessments to ensure that a building’s fire safety systems meet the required standards. This is done under the Environmental Planning and Assessment (Development Certification and Fire Safety) Regulation 2021. Their main job is to check that each fire safety measure works as intended, based on the performance standards outlined in the building’s fire safety schedule or the original design.

They also determine the level of performance needed for each safety measure and fill out the necessary parts of the Annual or Supplementary Fire Safety Statement. This statement is then submitted by the building owner or their representative.
